I was just looking about the internet and it suddenly hit me, why do Vegetarians eat only veg and fish when most already know more than most, that meat is an essential part of our diet ?
I know that for most the reason is that they are killing animals - something living, but why are fish exempt from that ?, and also, if they heard a vegetable scream in pain when you pick it, would they stop eating veg as well because after all, veg is alive ?
Your opinions please ...

I guess first of all fish are not cute and cuddly. but hey they are just as much a part of the animal kingdom. Sometimes I think the distinction is with blood letting, but fish still have blood in their circulatory systems.
Plants are most definitely alive, they respire just liike we do.
I still think many vegetarians do it because they see it as trendy, although I can see how some would choose this alternative for health reasons, especially after the red meat scare tactics of the doctors about a decade ago. And then the "Mad Cow" outbreak, followed by the bird flu epidemic.
Meat is an essential part of the diet supplying essential proteins for growth and cell repair.

I work with a veggie chef which causes a few problems in my workplace, the chef in question will cook with meat but will not try it,how can that chef tell what they are sending out is cooked properly or taste correct without relying on other members of the kitchen.

I think that unless you are working in a vegetarian restaurant or such, they should not allow a vegetarian to work there, simply because it could lower the quality of the food and at the end of the day it would offend some, in a business only an idiot would employ someone that cannot do the job due to their own life choices.
on the other hand, if the food always tastes good, that's all that matters

Agreeing with all of the above. My personal opinion is that my veggie acquaintances are overall too politically correct in general so "every nice banter and joking away" ends in powerful and endless discussions about , well almost everything. Worse is even a veggie PC person and a teetollarer. Don't get me wrong I have the utmost respect for people who have their reasons not to drink alcohol. But if you combine both you have ( in my eyes ) someeone to avoid.
There are nicer ways and friends to spend an evening with.
Hmm does that makes sense?
