A really good tip for growing tomatoes is to plant some marigolds nearby as greenfly really hate the smell,also it looks really pretty.

The marigolds i mentioned are the plant variety not the ones you wear on your hands

I should imagine the marigolds that you wear on your hands would look equally pretty when planted. lol.

Cookie, I have used the marigold trick around tomatoes as well as the plant pansies. I always thought the insects preferred the flower over the tomato plant. I learn something eveyday here.

To help germinate beetroot seeds,soak them in water overnight.Quicker results.

I am pleased to report that one tarragon seedling survived. I had thought I'd lost them all but kept watering anyway and one little seedling popped up.

They are very spindly and need very gentle watering when they first germinate.

I'm hoping "Catherine", Lol, will grow up to be a healthy plant!

Planted out my pumpkins today the ones I grew from saved seeds. Put them into some lovely compost from the bin that I had been composting in for the last 12 months.
