Portions and Portion Sizes

Posted 15-Jul-2008 at 07:17 PM by michaelmac
I am sick and tired of going into restaurants to discover an almost empty plate which I just paid quite a bit for.

I ordered fish and chips at Harry Ramsdens to find that they have almost halved the size of their chips portions. I looked at my plate thinking where is the rest.

I think we need to increase food size portions in restaurants. I am sick of paying good money for a measly portion.

I understand in this day and age we are all expected to eat healthily etc but I am a good believer of eating what I enjoy, and try to be moderate and consider your health at the same time.

Who is with me on this?

The last restaurant I went to the size of the meals was way OTT, and to me it seemed such a waste to have to leave so much food on my plate. But I do agree that one should get value for money. I am not a fan of the less is more principle, something pretty and tiny is not going to satify anyones appetite or their wallet.

There is nothing worse than spending your hard earned cash on a meal then coming home still hungry.

I dont understand why meals are made like this, all small and petite. I have found myself eating a plate of food with a portion sutiable for a child costing £15. They may use quality goods and need to pay the chefs etc but the price is ridiculous. I'd rather go to an all you can eat buffet when I am skint than waste it on something so measly. Besides, i like taking my carrier bag with me too

Here is the US they have just started serving 1/2 portions at a reduced price. The meals were way over-portioned. I suspect they will get smaller here with prices going up on everything.
